The Licence to Clean is a fleet of seven eco-friendly catamarans dedicated to removing floating trash from the waters around Thailand. Made from 100% recyclable HDPE, these boats sort and recycle collected waste daily basis. As Phuket’s first fleet focused on cleaning tourist areas, the initiative helps protect marine life from ingesting plastic and ensures cleaner shores.

Ocean Blue Tree supports the building and maintenance of one of this coastal cleaner catamarans.

PROJECT LEADER

David Martin

David Martin is a passionate marine conservationist and underwater cameraman. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with renowned organizations such as National Geographic, BBC, and Netflix, contributing to critical conservation efforts worldwide, including banning shark fishing in the Maldives and conducting post-tsunami reef assessments in Thailand.
In 2019, David co-founded the Oceans For All Foundation to promote eco-tourism and marine conservation in Thailand. His mission focuses on education and raising awareness to inspire change, highlighting the importance of protecting marine life and ecosystems globally.

All the collected trash is separated on the boat by types of waste and at the end of the day, the sorted trash is sent to different recycling plants with the help and support of the local communities, Bor Tor, and junk shops.
